Sony to launch mini PlayStation console for only $100
New PlayStation Classic is 45% smaller than the original console launched in 1994
Mini console version comes out December 3rd for $99.99 (£89.99). Includes an HDMI cable for connecting to a TV and two wired controllers with it.
Classic PlayStation will be preloaded with 20 awesome titles such as Final Fantasy VII; Jumping Flash; Ridge Racer Type 4; Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.
All those games will be playable in their original format, according to Sony, with more games and details to be announced in the coming months.
Being around half the size of the original, this mini version keeps faithfully the same logo, button layout and packaging! It even mirrors the disk eject button (but there is no thing such as an actual disk reader in it). Instead, pressing the button switches the game you are playing for another.
Releasing date marks exactly 24 years after the launch of the original PlayStation console, which came out in Japan on December 3rd, 1994.

This would be the first time Sony launches a mini version of its video game console. However, it wouldn’t be the first time a company launches a smaller version of a classic. Nintendo has already launched mini versions of NES and SNES consoles with pre-loaded games in the past.
Watch now the features that come with the Classic PlayStation:

This looks like a fun gift idea for my gamer son. He’s too young to remember the original, but I think he would enjoy this.
