Everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2018

Spread the love

Prime Day is only 5 days away!

The fourth-annual sale seems to get better every year. This time, Amazon Prime Day will last more hours, will reach more countries and includes over 1 million deals. Best part? the company is also giving away a new Lexus!

Here’s everything you need to know about the best shopping day in the summer:

WHAT IS AMAZON PRIME DAY?

Amazon Prime Day is a shopping event -pretty much like a “Black Friday” but unlike this last one, it’s exclusive to Amazon users with a Prime account. More than a million products will be discounted, but not all at the same time, and not all for the duration of the event. Some will be available only during certain hours, while others may sell out.

Now, if you do not know what Prime is, it’s a subscription service offered by Amazon. Membership includes free two-day shipping on many items sold on the site, as well as access to a large library of TV shows and live movies and a very useful assistant baptized with the name of Alexa.

Amazon Prime Day is great for saving money on a massive range of products – especially electronic items, but also services.

HOW DOES THE PRIME DAY WORK?

The savings appear in some different categories: Price reductions, Promotions and Lightning Deals. Price cuts, in particular, are offers with more stable discounts, with the only stipulation of a limited number of units.

Promotions, on the other hand, are less about goods and more about services, which means that they are much less likely to run out. And you’re likely to see lower prices on Amazon Video, Music and big savings on devices like the Fire HD, the Kindle and a lot of technology compatible with Alexa. This event is definitely a good time to acquire any device in the house, such as the Amazon Echo or the Echo Dot.

But if you’re looking to save the most on electronics, appliances and a whole host of other products, you’ll need to immerse yourself in the Lightning Deals.

WHEN IS AMAZON PRIME DAY 2018?

Prime Day 2018 starts at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT) on Monday, July 16. It runs through 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday night, July 17. It will start at noon in UK and in Sydney on July 16 in the UK and Australia, and run for 36 hours in both countries.
